Aviemore and the surrounding area are perfect for a golfing holiday, with a variety of attractive 9 and 18 hole courses to suit all abilities. Nearby golf courses where you can pay and play include; the Spey Valley Championship Course, Kingussie Golf Club, Boat of Garten Golf Club, Abernethy Golf Club and Carrbridge Golf Club.
You can easily jump on your bike right outside the door of the cottage as there are good mountain bike trails in Rothiemurchus. When you are cycling in the local area, we ask you to respect walkers and others enjoying the paths by being careful and keeping an eye on your speed. There is an abundance of fantastic mountain bike trails nearby such as Glenmore and Laggan Wolftrax. There is safe storage for your own bike at the cottage or Mikes Bikes is only a 5 minute drive and you can hire a quality bike, pick up route maps and receive great advice about where to ride. Road biking is also very popular in the area. Any bike hire can be arranged through Rothiemurchus.
Cairngorm Mountain is a 15-minute drive from Loch an Eilein, and offers a range of pistes to suit all abilities of skiers and snowboarders. The ski season in the Cairngorms typically runs from Christmas to April but the climate is not such that snow can be guaranteed.
Immediately from the door is one of the most popular and iconic lochside trails in the Highlands, the beautiful loop around Loch an Eilein which also links to several other charming trails. You can pick up an Explorer Map to discover Rothiemurchus on foot at the Rothiemurchus Visitors Centre. Alternatively, the Cairngorms and the ancient forests surrounding Aviemore are some of Britain’s most beautiful wild places, with some of the most popular walking terrain in Scotland. There are a wide variety of designated routes suitable for walkers of all abilities. Walk Highlands is a great resource to help you find the ideal walk for you. There are also several organisations who offer fantastic climbing and mountaineering in the local area.

Some watersports are also on offer at Loch Morlich and Loch Insh, each just a 15-minute drive from the cottage.
